Remix Theory, curated by Jenny Western, opens at Urban Shaman: Contemporary Aboriginal Art on Friday, October 15 at 8pm. Bear Witness and Jackson 2Bears coalesce their distinct practices of DJ culture and VJ artistry into dynamic mixed media presentations of sound art, sculpture and video installation.
Conjuration of Joseph Brant is the installation by 2Bears in which the artist forms life-sized figures utilizing a combination of painting and photo transfer. The installation is instigated from a dream concerning identity, doubling and his ancestors. Video projection interacts with the figures to capture the relationships between his dream and reality.
In The Cut: A Video Mixtape by Bear Witness creates an amassing effect with his dual screen projection of remixed imagery.
It will be an action packed night of music, video, art, pop culture and the “who is who” of the modern Aboriginal art world. Rock star artist Bear Witness and the glam curator Jenny Western welcome the audience to come engage and query on this night of the multi-layered exhibition!
