0 9 0 9 0 9 by Anders Weberg

0 9 0 9 0 9 is a 9 hour 9 minute and 9 second long audio/visual excursion by Swedish video artist Anders Weberg. This film and all the files used creating it will be deleted 2009/09/09 as part of the Weberg’s p2p-art project. Peer-to-peer art or (p2p art) is art made for – and only available on – the peer to peer networks. Weberg coined the term in 2006 and refers to p2p art as the “the aesthetics of ephemerality.”

The film is shared and then deleted at 09:00 AM Swedish time, that is, 2:00 AM Winnipeg time. If I obtain a copy, I will try to hold a screening through Video Pool.

  1. Are you going to destroy your copy if you get one?

Instead of destroying this piece, why not make a statement about cinema, and distribute it so it can be seen and understood?

    • If I obtain a copy, I have no intention of destroying it. However, this work is definitely intended to call into question the ephemeral nature of digital works.

It might be a challenge to find the work. When Anders was asked where he is going to release 0 9 0 9 0 9, he responded:

“I’m not sure yet. When I release work as a BitTorrent there is a torrent file that remains. So perhaps I will release it using another file sharing protocol instead.”
