Serge Gainsbourg + The French Pop Experience
Wednesday April 21, 2010 at 8PM
Lo Pub – 330 Kennedy
Admission: $10

w/ DJs Rob Vilar + Damien Ferland
plus a special live French ye-ye performance by Vav Jungle

Women loved him. Men Wanted to be him. Throughout his 30+ year career, French pop maestro, writer, composer, performer, film director and superstar Serge Gainsbourg was the dirty old man of popular music; a French singer/songwriter and provocateur notorious for his voracious appetite for alcohol, cigarettes, and women, his scandalous, taboo-shattering output made him a legend in Europe but only a cult figure in America, where his lone hit Je T’Aime…Moi Non Plus stalled on the pop charts — fittingly enough — at number 69.

Come join us in celebrating the life and work of the suave Gallic bard in the month of his birth – We’ll be screening the world premiere of the painstakingly subtitled (by Damien Ferland + Clint Enns) edition of the 2010 French TV doc Serge Gainsbourg: The Man Who Loved Women + more rare documentary footage, music videos and TV specials (yes, you will get to see the famous clip with Whitney Houston…)
