Andrew Milne’s Media for Solo Performer is an expanded cinema / media performance. This performance is the next step in an evolution of ongoing performances exploring the fusion of body and new media technology. The performer will be using an EEG (Electroencephalography) game controller to allow a computer to electrically measure and recognize his neural activity. Through the mind and memories of the performer a real-time narrative will unfold.

Media for Solo Performer directly examines recorded media as the mechanization of imagination and memory. It is created as a development of Alvin Lucier’s 1964 work Music for Solo Performer in which Lucier translates his thoughts into sound via mechanical instruments.

“The Idiot Prince” In Preview is a brief presentation by Kram Ran of material he has been working on for the last several years. It is ultimately an album on the study of the finite self, and the process of becoming and sifting through the entanglement of endless influence to find pure creation and self.

The music is in continuous reference to self and art from the past. Songs themselves are sampled within themselves – another nod to Alvin Lucier, this time I Am Sitting In A Room – and external sound bites are taken from Dostoevsky’s The Idiot, Machiavelli’s The Prince, and Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s The Little Prince.

The presentation will include the screening of a new Kram Ran video by Tyler Funk and Mark Wohlgemuth.
