Video Jukebox: The 48-Hour Music Video Contest
with Kier-La Janisse’s Metal Machine Muzik: The Krautrock Story
Tuesday March 29th at 7:00PM
Lo Pub
Admission $5

On Friday March 25th, several teams met at the Lo Pub to receive a randomly-assigned mystery CD containing a song that they had 48-hours to make a music video for. Songs in the grab bag included hits from Devo, Robyn Hitchock, Jurassic 5, Michael Jackson, ELO and more!

Kier-La Janisse’s Metal Machine Muzik: The Krautrock Story is born into both an economic miracle and a cultural wasteland, postwar German kids set about alchemising the 60’s revolutionary spirit into sound and vision. Wildly radical then, highly influential now, Kraut Rock generally refers to German prog./art rock of the ‘70s, and includes bands like Can, Neu!, Cluster, Faust and synth-pop pioneers Kraftwerk. Kraut Rock was more experimental than other Prog forms; it was deconstructionist, sometimes minimalist, and employed innovative electronic/synthesizer sounds and techniques. This in-house compilation looks at the bands, the trends and – most importantly – the music whose influence is ubiquitous today.
